Comedian Hassan Abbas was awarded the “Art Recognition Award” in New York on Pakistan Day. Hassan Abbas is one of the leading names in stand-up comedy in the Indian subcontinent. He has been associated with the arts of music, comedy, stage, TV, film, and the entertainment industry for the past 40 years. During this time, he studied under renowned music maestros such as Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Ustad Ghulam Abbas, and spent a long time with famous ghazal singer Ustad Ghulam Ali, Ustad Mehr Ali, Ustad Sher Ali Qawwal, late comedian Amanullah Khan, and Sohail Ahmed. Following in the footsteps of these masters, he has blended classical music, musical comedy, parody, impressions, and voice acting to create a unique style.

His admirers are spread across the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East, Far East, Europe, and America, where he has showcased his talent several times over the past 30 years. Hassan Abbas is also known as the “Artist’s Artist.” Not only does he entertain the general public with his craft, but he is also a source of amusement for his senior fellow artists, often adding to the charm of private gatherings. He has received several awards from Pakistani stage theatre. This is the second time he has been honored with an award in New York, USA. Previously, in 2014, he was titled “Mr. Comedy” in New York. His work has been praised by singers like Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, renowned Indian singer Daler Mehndi, and Hans Raj Hans. Upon receiving the Art Recognition Award, Hassan Abbas thanked the entire Pakistani-American community, especially the host organization, the All Pakistani American Coalition.
